Senior Software Developer
MaestroConference, a fast-growing internet application startup, is looking for a senior Java and Rich Internet Application (Flex/PHP/mySQL, Ajax) software developer. This is a contract position with the possibility of contract-to-hire, located out of our Oakland office.
We're a software startup on a mission - our customers include MoveOn.org, BarackObama.com, Rainforest Action Coalition, the Sierra Club, many best-selling personal growth authors and other organizations making a difference in the world.
We're seeking a software engineer who is into the mission, AND has a proven track record of architecting and building java applications.
Job Summary
The Senior Software Developer will work on customer facing telephony solutions and ecommerce websites. We're looking for expertise in development of large-scale Web 2.0 applications with mySQL backend calls. Our core technologies include Drupal, PHP and Flex/ActionScript, so you should be savvy with each.
Our web application is driven by a telephony back-end, so exposure to Asterisk is helpful, and you'll certainly gain new experience in cutting-edge VOIP. With events coming from the telephony server as well as multiple browsers, keeping everything "in sync" will certainly be one of the challenges you'll overcome.
MaestroConference is dedicated to frequent releases and agile development techniques. Our developers work closely with our product management team in a collaborative and fun environment to rapidly define stories and map out sprints based on clear priorities and participatory bidding of time. Our goal is to empower our customers to make the greatest possible impact by building a simple, reliable and scalable application.
Responsibilities
- Implement multiple new products and platform initiatives in an environment consisting of Java/Tomcat, Flex, Drupal, C and mySQL.
- Build robust and secure ecommerce applications able to withstand a very high daily count of visitors and transactions.
- Develop detailed knowledge of our existing framework and be the go-to person for our lead software architect and product management team.
- Document code and procedure to hand off long-term maintenance to our offshore developers.
Required Experience
- Advanced level with Java
- Strong RIA development (Flash/Flex OR Javascript/GWT)
- Advanced level with XML
- Experience developing mySQL enabled Web 2.0 consumer applications
- Comfort with C, C++ and Perl
- (light) linux administration
Good To Have Experience
- XML-RPC
- Asterisk/VOIP
- Amazon EC2
We'd prefer someone who has roughly 10 or more years of development experience.

QA Engineer
Job Summary
MaestroConference.com is a leading provider of interactive voice conferencing. Our platform adds the "voice" to social media, enabling inspirational and engaging events with massive audiences.
The QA Engineer will be responsible for hands-on management of the entire quality assurance effort. You should excel in fast paced, dynamic work environments and have the ability to work on multiple projects following Agile processes for software development.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with development team to draft test cases
- Maintain, extend, and enhance Automation using Selenium
- Demonstrate initiative to improve products, tools, and process around QA automation
- Take ownership of release management
- Work closely with other QA engineers and developers and ensure on-time completion of the testing and product delivery
- Reduce test cycle time, while increasing test coverage
- Document Automation procedures and maintain the automated tests over time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
- 1+ years test Automation experience with Selenium
- At least 2+ years experience testing web-based applications with multiple browsers (IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, Chrome) with emphasis on Automation (developing test scripts and frameworks)
- Extensive background in QA Methodologies and experience developing and executing comprehensive test suites for application software
- Must have a passion for analysis and testing
- Strong trouble shooting and technical skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and the ability to adapt and learn
- Must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development

Compensation
We launched in August of 2009 and are well on our way to profitability, so this is still very much a ground floor opportunity, and we are seeking fellow entrepreneurs. This is a contractor position with a portion of payment going towards deferred fees. For the first three months, half or more of the consultant fee is deferred, and cash compenation will be $3000 per month for these three months.
