Senior Software Developer
MaestroConference, a fast-growing internet & telephony startup, is hiring a senior Java and Rich Internet Application (Flex/PHP/mySQL, Ajax) software developer to take a leadership role within the team, located in our Oakland office.
We're a software startup on a mission - with customers include MoveOn.org, BarackObama.com and the DNC, Rainforest Action Coalition, the Sierra Club, many best-selling personal growth authors and other organizations making a difference in the world. We are replacing passive media consumption, boring conference calls, and disconnected web browsing with passionate, involved, worldwide conversations about topics of importance.
We're seeking a software engineer who is supports our mission, AND who has a proven track record of architecting and building java applications, AND who is a *great* communicator and team player.
Job Summary
The Senior Software Developer will work on customer facing telephony solutions and the related systems including event registration, a web interface, APIs, and ecommerce .
Responsibilities
- Code, document and debug - of course
- Lead the process of making architectural decisions (large and small - both application architecture and systems architecture), in communication with other developers and management..
- Take a leadership role in our Agile process, supporting other engineers in clearing blocks.
- Support key customers and be available for (rare but occasional) off-hours support for immediate issues.
Required Experience
- Advanced level with Java
- Experience developing mySQL enabled Web 2.0 consumer applications, especially in Drupal & PHP
- Comfort with C, C++ and XML
- Familiarity with linux administration
Good To Have Experience
- Strong RIA development (Flash/Flex/ActionScript)
- XML-RPC
- Asterisk/VOIP
- Amazon EC2
We'd prefer someone who has 10 or more years of development experience.

QA Engineer
Job Summary
MaestroConference.com is a leading provider of interactive voice conferencing. Our platform adds the "voice" to social media, enabling inspirational and engaging events with massive audiences.
The QA Engineer will be responsible for hands-on management of the entire quality assurance effort. You should excel in fast paced, dynamic work environments and have the ability to work on multiple projects following Agile processes for software development.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with development team to draft test cases
- Maintain, extend, and enhance Automation using Selenium
- Demonstrate initiative to improve products, tools, and process around QA automation
- Take ownership of release management
- Work closely with other QA engineers and developers and ensure on-time completion of the testing and product delivery
- Reduce test cycle time, while increasing test coverage
- Document Automation procedures and maintain the automated tests over time
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred
- 1+ years test Automation experience with Selenium
- At least 2+ years experience testing web-based applications with multiple browsers (IE, Firefox, Mozilla, Safari, Chrome) with emphasis on Automation (developing test scripts and frameworks)
- Extensive background in QA Methodologies and experience developing and executing comprehensive test suites for application software
- Must have a passion for analysis and testing
- Strong trouble shooting and technical skills
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and the ability to adapt and learn
- Must be a self-starter and able to perform with minimal supervision while working in a diverse team environment following Agile processes for software development

Compensation
We launched in August of 2009 and are well on our way to profitability, so this is still very much a ground floor opportunity, and we are seeking fellow entrepreneurs. This is a contractor position with a portion of payment going towards deferred fees. For the first three months, half or more of the consultant fee is deferred, and cash compenation will be $3000 per month for these three months.
